Purdue upsets #8 Michigan State in Mackey

February 10, 2016 by matt thomas

Saturday afternoon sports personality Dan Dakich made the claim that Maryland's student section was the best in the Big Ten. Tuesday night, The Paint Crew throughly debunked that myth.

Last night may have been the loudest I've heard Mackey Arena in a long time. It was shaking. Sitting on the baseline, you could barely hear what the photographer next to you was trying to say. You could feel the energy. Purdue fed off the energy building a 18 point lead going into halftime. Purdue began to slow down in the second half, allowing Michigan State to come back and take the lead. As a photographer, I tend to focus on each possession rather than the game as a whole so I get lost sometimes when trying to keep track of the score. You look up at the Jumbotron and realize how close of a game it really has become.

Purdue fought last night. The game had all the makings of the home loss against Iowa, when Purdue was up by 20 at halftime and managed to find a way to lose the game. They had too much fight last night to let that happen again.
