Very few people follow this sport, you may have come upon it some random weekend afternoon on ESPN 2 sandwiched somewhere between billiards and arena football. But, I saw that it STIHL was brining the championships to the Chicago area, and I was curious to see what I might be able to come up with. I was well out of my comfort zone on this one, not knowing at all what to expect in the slightest.

When you're dealing with these powerful machines, the "hot saws" cost nearly $7,000 and have a snowmobile engine attached to them, safety is a big concern. In the frame where you see the sawdust shooting back was a prime example of placing a remote in a place that I could never been standing. Through the 6 disciplines, I saw the strength and power that these athletes really have. No way could I stand eight or ten feet up in the air and imagine to chop a block of wood in half. Even though it felt like it was going to be a challenge at first, I'm content with the images I made that night.
